Hyderabad opens new Centre for Logistics Training Excellence
New technology-led centre aims to boost employability and modern skills for Telangana’s logistics workforce.

India marked a significant step in strengthening its logistics workforce as the Centre of Logistics Training for Excellence was inaugurated today at the National Skill Training Institute campus in Hyderabad. The centre, launched by Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary, aims to prepare young Indians for a rapidly modernising logistics sector driven by major national policies and large-scale infrastructure growth.
Chaudhary said India’s logistics sector is entering a high-growth decade led by the National Logistics Policy, PM Gati Shakti and investments in multimodal infrastructure. He stressed that this progress can continue only with a modern, future-ready workforce. He added that the new centre represents the type of technology-led and industry-designed skilling required to meet the changing needs of automation, digital supply chains and new mobility models.
The centre has been established by Redington Foundation, the CSR arm of Redington Limited, in partnership with the Logistics Sector Skill Council. It brings advanced simulation labs and technology-driven training to prepare youth in roles such as EXIM Associate, Forklift Operator, Warehouse Associate Executive and Supply Chain Executive. Its curriculum integrates Industry 4.0 principles and emerging supply chain technologies to ensure job-ready capabilities.
Redington Ltd.’s Global Chief Sustainability Officer, R. Venkatesh, said the success of the Chennai centre, launched in January 2024, encouraged the expansion to Hyderabad. He noted that strong industry alignment, world-class simulators, digital learning tools and improved job readiness in Chennai demonstrated the scalability of this model.
The Chennai centre has already trained unemployed youth and working professionals through AR/VR modules, industry-grade simulators and collaborations with academia and industry. Its performance set the foundation for extending the high-impact training approach to Hyderabad, one of India’s fastest-growing logistics hubs.
The new centre includes simulation labs for truck driving, warehouse operations and forklift management. Co-developed by the Logistics Sector Skill Council and industry experts, the curriculum focuses on future-oriented competencies suited for a technology-led logistics environment. The initiative is expected to enhance the employability of Telangana’s youth and strengthen the region’s talent pipeline.
The establishment of the Hyderabad centre supports the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship’s efforts to build a robust national skilling architecture for logistics and supply chain management. The Ministry’s focus on sector-specific Centres of Excellence aims to boost employability, improve industry capabilities and help India advance towards a globally competitive workforce.
