Godrej opens material handling equipment manufacturing facility in Khalapur

The facility has an annual production capacity of 6,000 units, expandable to 15,000 units, and will serve domestic and export markets.

Godrej Enterprises Group's Material Handling Equipment (MHE) business has commenced operations at its advanced manufacturing facility in Khalapur, Maharashtra. The new plant is aimed at strengthening indigenous manufacturing and supporting the next phase of growth in India's logistics, warehousing and supply chain sectors.

The facility is located within the 360-acre Naoroji Godrej Industrial Park and has been designed to meet the growing requirements of manufacturing, e-commerce, quick commerce, pharmaceuticals, engineering, automotive and warehousing. It has an annual production capacity of 6,000 units, which can be scaled up to 15,000 units as demand grows. The facility will strengthen the company's ability to deliver locally designed and manufactured material handling solutions.

The plant is strategically located near key logistics hubs, including Nhava Sheva Port and the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, enabling it to serve both domestic and export markets. It manufactures a wide range of material handling equipment, including articulated trucks, a category in which Godrej is the only Indian manufacturer. These products are exported to more than 40 countries.

The facility has been designed as a future-ready manufacturing hub with Industry 4.0 technologies integrated into key production processes. These include robotic welding, automated painting, digital assembly guidance, smart quality assurance systems and end-of-line testing. The plant also incorporates resource-efficient manufacturing processes, automated paint systems and energy-efficient technologies. Godrej Enterprises Group was recently awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal and is among the top 5% of companies globally assessed for sustainability performance.

The Khalapur facility further strengthens Godrej Enterprises Group's focus on engineering excellence, innovation-led manufacturing and the development of solutions that support India's emergence as a globally competitive manufacturing and logistics hub.
