Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) has introduced India’s first MultiIon battery technology for electric forklifts through its Material Handling Equipment (MHE) business. The company said the launch aims to support the growing demand for efficient, reliable and sustainable energy solutions across India’s rapidly expanding manufacturing, logistics and warehousing sectors. The technology is designed to offer 25% lower total cost of ownership, higher equipment uptime and cleaner industrial operations, with a battery built to last through the full operational life of the forklift.

The launch comes at a time when India’s industrial and warehousing market is witnessing strong growth. According to the company, the sector recorded more than 11 million sq. ft. of leasing across the top eight cities in the first quarter of 2026, driven by demand from thirdparty logistics providers, ecommerce and manufacturingled supply chain modernisation. As warehouses become denser and operational throughput increases, the need for energyefficient, safe and futureready material handling solutions has become increasingly important.

Godrej said the MultiIon battery combines fast and opportunity charging, zero maintenance and high energy efficiency, while removing rareearth dependency and reducing disposal challenges. Developed in collaboration with one of India’s leading deeptech battery innovators, the technology delivers up to 5,000 life cycles, nearly 60% higher than standard lithiumion batteries. The company said this allows the battery to last for the life of the equipment while reducing longterm ownership costs.

The battery has also been designed to operate in ambient temperatures above 45°C, making it suitable for India’s tropical climatic conditions.

Mr. Anil Lingayat, Business Head, Material Handling Equipment, Godrej Enterprises Group, said: “As India’s supply chains scale in complexity and intensity, material handling requires energy solutions that deliver reliability, longterm value and sustainability. With MultiIon battery technology, we are rethinking how industrial equipment is powered, applying advanced engineering to enable higher uptime, lower ownership costs and cleaner operations across the value chain, including MSMEs. This reflects our focus on designled innovation, R&D, and technologydriven product focus that delivers real, scalable impact across the logistics ecosystem.”

Godrej Enterprises Group said the launch reflects its focus on advanced engineering and digital integration within its material handling portfolio. The MultiIon battery technology has been backed by more than 5,000 hours of realworld validation and comes with a sevenyear warranty.
