Lufthansa Cargo has completed the first phase of its new headquarters at Frankfurt Airport, marking a major milestone in the modernisation of its cargo hub. The official building approval is expected in mid-December, after which the first 60 office workspaces in the revitalised building will become operational.
The project, part of the Lufthansa Cargo Campus modernisation, will continue in three more phases until early 2028, with phase two set for completion in fall 2026. The new 10,000-square-metre office space is designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and growth, while the broader campus upgrades will strengthen the reliability and quality of the company’s global air freight services.
“The new headquarters is more than just a building. It reflects our culture and our commitment to the future of Lufthansa Cargo and Frankfurt,” said CEO Ashwin Bhat.
The programme, named “LCCevo,” represents the Lufthansa Group’s largest infrastructure investment at 600 million Euro. By 2030, the existing 330,000-square-metre cargo centre—including administrative areas—will be fully modernised while remaining operational. Lufthansa Cargo has handled 1.4 million tons of freight annually at the hub, accounting for about 80 percent of its global cargo volume.
Construction is proceeding on schedule, including a 42-metre-high high-bay warehouse, one of the tallest buildings at Frankfurt Airport. Work is being carried out in sections to ensure 24/7 operations continue uninterrupted. Once complete, the campus aims to be Europe’s most modern air freight location and strengthen Lufthansa Cargo’s global competitive position.
