FHEL stores 21 banana containers amid Middle East route crisis
FHEL stores 21 banana containers for a month amid Middle East crisis, ensuring quality and timely dispatch without losses

Fresh & Healthy Enterprises(FHEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Container Corporation of India, has successfully stored and managed 21 containers of bananas for a full month amid disruptions caused by the 2026 Middle East conflict, ensuring all consignments were dispatched within shelf life without any quality complaints.
The conflict has significantly disrupted Indian export routes, forcing containers to be redirected from Iran and the Gulf region. Among those affected was Fauji EXIM, which faced the challenge of handling 21 containers of bananas that were returned mid-transit with no immediate destination.
FHEL accepted all 21 containers and stored them at its facility in Rai, Sonipat, under controlled conditions for up to a month, which is at the upper limit of the fruit’s shelf life. The company maintained precise temperature, humidity and ethylene levels, along with continuous monitoring, to preserve the quality of the cargo.
Bananas are highly perishable and require strict handling conditions, as even minor deviations can lead to rapid and irreversible ripening. Despite these challenges, FHEL ensured that every container was dispatched within the acceptable shelf life.
The company said the achievement marks a first for FHEL and reflects its operational capabilities and commitment to maintaining service standards during disruptions.
