Emiza adds 232 thousand sq. ft. fulfilment capacity in Bhiwandi

Emiza has expanded its Mumbai operations with two new fulfilment facilities in Bhiwandi, adding a combined 232 thousand sq. ft. of capacity to its network. The facilities, measuring 75,000 sq. ft. and 157 thousand sq. ft., are Emiza’s fifth and sixth warehouses in the Mumbai region.

The expansion is aimed at strengthening Emiza’s fulfilment network across Western India as digital commerce continues to grow. The company said rising online consumption, wider product assortments and increasing expectations around speed and availability are driving the need for greater fulfilment capacity.

As brands expand across channels and geographies, fulfilment infrastructure helps position inventory closer to demand and move it efficiently. Emiza said its new facilities will provide additional capacity for brands to hold inventory, process orders and replenish downstream networks.

The two facilities will operate as multi-client centres, allowing businesses to add warehousing capacity without making repeated investments in their own infrastructure. This is intended to help brands manage growing volumes and expand their operations.

“For brands to scale, the logistics infrastructure behind them has to scale ahead of demand. Our investment in Mumbai is about creating that capacity,” said Ajay Rao, Founder and CEO, Emiza.

He added that the facilities will allow customers to hold deeper inventory, manage larger volumes and expand their businesses without logistics becoming a constraint. The expansion is also expected to create employment and strengthen supply chain capability in the region.

Jitendra Kumar, Co-founder, Emiza, said warehousing has a direct impact on the economics of a growing brand. He said inefficient inventory placement, fragmented capacity and repeated infrastructure changes can increase costs as volumes rise.

The new fulfilment capacity in Mumbai is expected to help brands improve inventory utilisation and add capacity as their businesses grow. The company said its objective is to support business growth without fulfilment costs increasing at the same pace.

Designed as high-capacity regional fulfilment hubs, the two facilities will strengthen Emiza’s network across 11+ cities and 11+ states. They will have environmental controls and purpose-built infrastructure to maintain suitable operating conditions for inventory.

Technology-enabled systems at the facilities will support storage optimisation, inbound and outbound operations, inventory visibility and faster replenishment across downstream networks.

The expansion is expected to generate more than 700 job opportunities across warehousing, transportation, supply chain operations, technology, security and allied logistics services.

As multi-client facilities, the centres are also expected to support wider economic activity across the logistics ecosystem by providing scalable infrastructure that multiple businesses can use as they expand.

Emiza said the expansion in Western India is aimed at providing businesses with fulfilment capacity to support growth while improving the efficiency, flexibility and resilience of their supply chains.
