Global logistics and freight forwarding provider DREWES Logistics has launched operations in India after establishing its own national subsidiary from 1 January 2026. Headquartered in Bremen, Germany, the company entered the Indian market by acquiring a majority stake in an established local logistics firm.
The seven offices of the acquired company in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad have been transferred to the newly formed entity, DREWES Logistics India. These locations are now fully integrated into the group’s international network.
DREWES Logistics India will offer services in project logistics, ocean freight and air freight. Patric Drewes, Managing Director of DREWES Logistics, said the move allows the company to bring its logistics expertise to one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies.
Sundresh Sarup, who previously served as Managing Director of the acquired company, will continue to lead DREWES Logistics India. He will oversee day-to-day operations and maintain existing customer relationships. The Indian subsidiary currently employs 52 people.
Sarup said the integration marks a new phase for the company in India, combining DREWES Logistics’ global network with local market knowledge built over many years.
The company said India is a key growth market due to its rising role as a production and sourcing hub and its position as one of the fastest-growing large economies. Patric Drewes said changes in global supply chains, geopolitical considerations and new trade initiatives are driving European companies to expand their presence in South Asia, increasing demand for internationally integrated logistics providers.
Thomas Hölker, Co-Managing Director of DREWES Logistics, said the new subsidiary strengthens the company’s position in project-related industrial and plant logistics, which remains its core focus.
Sascha Simon, Co-Managing Director of the DREWES Group, said having a dedicated team and structures in India is important to meet the requirements of global capital-goods customers as production and sourcing shift towards the country.
DREWES Logistics India will work closely with the company’s headquarters in Bremen and its global network, supporting international customers managing projects and transport flows between Europe and the Indian subcontinent.
The company said the launch in India is part of its wider global expansion strategy, with additional locations outside Europe already under planning.
