Delhi–Dehradun corridor to cut freight costs, boost logistics
New Delhi–Dehradun corridor to reduce freight costs, improve cargo movement and support logistics growth in the region

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14 inaugurated the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, stating that the project will reduce freight costs and improve the movement of goods across the region.
Speaking at the event in Dehradun, the Prime Minister said the corridor will make transport faster and more cost-efficient, leading to lower fuel consumption and reduced freight charges. He added that the improved connectivity will help goods move more quickly to markets, benefiting farmers, animal herders and businesses.
The project, built with an investment of ₹12,000 crore, is expected to strengthen logistics and supply chains across the Delhi–Western Uttar Pradesh–Uttarakhand region. The corridor passes through Ghaziabad, Baghpat, Baraut, Shamli and Saharanpur, and is expected to support trade, warehousing and industrial activity in these areas.
Modi noted that the improved road infrastructure will open new opportunities for logistics development, enabling faster and more efficient distribution networks. He said the corridor will act as a key link for regional economic growth by facilitating smoother freight movement.
Highlighting the broader impact, the Prime Minister said infrastructure development plays a critical role in economic expansion. He added that ongoing infrastructure projects in Uttarakhand are contributing to stronger connectivity and improved logistics capabilities.
The Prime Minister said the corridor is not just a road project but a key step towards enhancing trade and logistics efficiency, while also generating employment for thousands of workers involved in construction and transport.
