ColdStar opens second 2,20,000 sq ft cold chain hub in Pune
New Chakan facility boosts processing capacity and supports FMCG and fresh produce distribution across Maharashtra.

ColdStar Logistics has set up a second temperature-controlled cold chain facility in Pune, strengthening its focus on the FMCG and fruits and vegetables segments and expanding its distribution footprint across Maharashtra.
Located in Chakan Phase II, the 2,20,000 sq ft facility has been developed to meet growing demand from the Pune consumption market and the wider region for reliable cold storage and processing infrastructure. The warehouse has a daily processing capacity of more than 3,00,000 units and will operate as a central hub for Pune and the surrounding Maharashtra hinterland, supporting faster movement of temperature-sensitive goods.
The new hub will handle storage, processing and distribution of FMCG products and fresh produce, serving customers from modern trade, e-commerce platforms, food processors and institutional segments. ColdStar already operates a 35,000 sq ft facility in Chakan Phase II, and the addition of the second hub significantly increases the company’s capacity and service capability in the region.
The facility is equipped with modern warehousing infrastructure, energy-efficient systems and ColdStar’s proprietary AI and machine learning-based logistics planning tools. These features are aimed at improving throughput, reducing handling time and maintaining product integrity across the supply chain.
Commenting on the expansion, Sameer Varma, Executive Director at ColdStar Logistics, said Pune has emerged as a key consumption and distribution centre for FMCG and fresh produce. He added that rising regional demand, growth in quick commerce and the increasing need for processing-led cold chain solutions led to the decision to expand in the city.
ColdStar’s cold chain network provides storage and logistics services ranging from sourcing and consolidation to cross-docking, last-mile fulfilment and reverse logistics. The company currently operates 26 temperature-controlled distribution centres, handling 1.8 million units per day across more than 200 cities.
Founded in 2011 with backing from Tuscan Ventures, ColdStar Logistics is a temperature-controlled supply chain solutions provider serving clients across QSR, FMCG, food processing, retail, healthcare and e-commerce segments. It offers a cumulative storage capacity of over 65,000 metric tonnes and delivers goods to more than 7,000 pin codes through its pan-India distribution network.
