Adani Ports achieves 500 million tonnes cargo handling milestone
APSEZ handles 500 million tonnes of cargo, marking growth and targeting 1 billion tonnes by 2030 in India’s trade sector

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has crossed a major milestone of handling 500 million tonnes of cargo, marking a key moment in its growth and reinforcing its role in India’s infrastructure and trade development.
The company said the achievement reflects the strength of India’s infrastructure-led transformation and highlights the scale and operational efficiency of its logistics platform. It added that the milestone is not only about volume but also about building a strong and integrated transport and logistics network over the years.
From starting with a single port-led vision in 1998, APSEZ has expanded into a network of 19 ports and terminals across India and international locations. The company said it has become a key enabler of India’s trade, industrial growth and global competitiveness.
Speaking on the development, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, said ports play a critical role in driving national confidence and competitiveness. He thanked customers, partners and employees for contributing to the milestone and acknowledged the support of central and state governments in building the infrastructure ecosystem.
He added that crossing 500 million tonnes reflects the group’s long-term confidence in India’s growth story and highlighted the development of an interconnected logistics platform that includes ports, rail, roads, trucking, warehouses and cargo gateways.
The company said its growth has accelerated over time, noting that it took 16 years to reach its first 100 million tonnes, while subsequent milestones were achieved at a faster pace due to improved scale, efficiency and execution.
APSEZ said it remains on track to reach its next target of handling 1 billion tonnes of cargo by 2030. It added that it will continue to focus on building world-class infrastructure and strengthening its position as an integrated logistics provider.
