India to launch digital Land Port Management System on June 9
The platform will enable digital cargo and passenger processing, integrate with ICEGATE and ULIP, and support seamless operations across 15 land ports.

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, will launch the Land Port Management System (LPMS) in New Delhi on June 9, 2026, marking a major step towards technology-enabled border management. The digital platform is designed to improve efficiency, transparency and security in cross-border trade and passenger movement by integrating operations across India's land ports into a unified system.
The launch of LPMS reflects the Government's focus on smart border management through technology-driven solutions. The platform will enable secure, real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information, bringing land ports in line with the digital systems already used at airports and seaports.
LPMS has been developed as a neutral and open platform to facilitate coordination among government agencies and private operators. By allowing seamless information sharing, the system is expected to reduce delays and improve operational efficiency at land ports.
The platform introduces end-to-end digital workflows for cargo and passenger processing, including slot booking, payments, tracking and single-window clearances. It is fully integrated with key national platforms such as ICEGATE, ULIP and the motor vehicle ecosystem, enabling interoperable, efficient and transparent border management.
During the event, Amit Shah will also inaugurate newly developed stakeholder accommodation facilities at the Dawki Land Port in Meghalaya and the Srimantapur Land Port in Tripura. The facilities have been developed to strengthen infrastructure support for border security personnel and other stakeholders.
According to the government, the launch of LPMS represents an important milestone in India's efforts to build a modern and technology-enabled border management system. The initiative supports the country's objectives of strengthening trade facilitation, connectivity and national security while contributing to the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), a statutory body under the Department of Border Management in the Ministry of Home Affairs, is responsible for developing and managing land ports to support trade, connectivity and regional cooperation.
LPAI currently operates 15 land ports across India's international borders. These include Attari and Dera Baba Nanak on the India-Pakistan border; Rupaidiha, Raxaul and Jogbani on the India-Nepal border; Darranga on the India-Bhutan border; Petrapole, Dawki, Sutarkandi, Golakganj, Mankachar, Agartala, Srimantapur and Sabroom on the India-Bangladesh border; and Moreh on the India-Myanmar border.
