DACHSER India has completed an intricate, end-to-end multimodal project cargo movement from Pune, India, to Kushiro Port in Japan. The successful execution marks another milestone for the logistics firm, which transported oversized equipment for a multinational packaging solutions provider, navigating complex operational and geographical challenges with meticulous planning.

The cargo, exceeding 1,500 cm in length, demanded heightened logistical coordination due to its unusual dimensions. The project began with the pickup of the cargo in Pune, followed by a carefully mapped road movement to Chennai. Given the over-dimensional nature of the load, DACHSER’s team conducted thorough road and route surveys to identify and mitigate potential risks, including clearance checks, route viability, and infrastructure assessments along the way.

“Every stage of the journey was engineered for precision,” said a DACHSER India spokesperson. “From the route planning and transport approvals to selecting the right multimodal combination, our team ensured nothing was left to chance.”

Once in Chennai, the cargo was securely loaded onto a RORO (Roll-on/Roll-off) vessel bound for Yokohama, Japan. This mode was specifically chosen for its suitability in handling large, rolling cargo with minimal lifting, reducing the risk of damage during transit.

However, the most impressive part of the operation came during the final leg. To ensure timely delivery to Kushiro Port on Japan’s northernmost island of Hokkaido, DACHSER arranged a dedicated charter vessel from Yokohama. This bespoke solution ensured a direct and uninterrupted ocean leg, eliminating potential delays through conventional coastal shipping or intermodal transfers.

This project not only demonstrated DACHSER India’s ability to deliver high-value, oversized cargo on strict deadlines but also highlighted its global network and project management capabilities. The seamless collaboration between teams in India and Japan underscores the company’s growing strength in handling complex, high-stakes logistics assignments across international borders.

With global supply chains under increasing pressure to deliver precision logistics, DACHSER’s successful execution stands as a model for reliability, agility, and technical excellence in the movement of project cargo.
