Amazon India has announced a significant expansion of its operations network with the launch of 12 new fulfillment centers (FCs) and six new sort centers (SCs), ahead of the upcoming festive season. The move adds 8.6 million cubic feet of incremental storage capacity, equivalent to 100 Olympic-sized swimming pools, further strengthening what is already one of India’s most advanced e-commerce logistics infrastructures.

The new fulfillment centers have been launched across key cities, including Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Nagpur, Thane, Visakhapatnam, Hubballi, Hooghly, Hyderabad, Tiruvallur, and Krishnagiri. With this, Amazon has introduced its first FCs in five cities: Hooghly, Tiruvallur, Krishnagiri, Visakhapatnam, and Hubballi. The six sort centers have been set up in Hubli, Trivandrum, Rajpura, Gorakhpur, Moradabad, and Prayagraj, covering a combined area of 500,000 sq. ft.

Abhinav Singh, Vice President of Operations, India & Australia at Amazon, emphasized that this expansion comes at a critical time as sellers gear up to serve millions of customers during the festive season. “The 12 new fulfillment centers and 6 new sort centers will significantly boost our ability to provide customers across the country the fastest, safest, and most reliable deliveries. Our long-term focus remains on building and managing one of India’s leading logistics networks, focused on speed, safety, and reliability across every pin code,” Singh said.

This network expansion builds on Amazon’s earlier addition in June 2025 of five fulfillment centers and over 30 last-mile delivery stations in cities such as Panchkula, Nagpur, Hubli, Mohali, Howrah, and Indore. With these latest facilities, Amazon continues to invest heavily in logistics infrastructure across India. Earlier this year, the company announced a fresh INR 2000 crore investment to strengthen operations, improve associate safety and well-being programs, and develop new technologies for its fulfillment and delivery network.

The expansion is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities, including positions for fulfillment and sortation associates, team leads, and process assistants. Amazon recently revealed that it has created more than 150,000 seasonal roles across its operations network in over 400 Indian cities. This includes onboarding thousands of women associates and more than 2,000 persons with disabilities (PWD), reinforcing its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

By strategically placing inventory closer to customers, Amazon aims to boost delivery speeds, enhance customer experience, and enable sellers across India to meet growing festive demand with efficiency and reliability.
