Air India, India’s leading global airline, has taken a decisive step to modernize its cargo operations by partnering with Revenue Technology Services (RTS), a Dallas-based technology provider. The airline plans to deploy RTS’s AI and machine learning-powered platforms, Velocity and AcceleRate, to optimize cargo revenue management and pricing.

As part of its transformation, Air India aims to strengthen its position in the international cargo market, leveraging a rapidly expanding network and a digital-first approach. The deployment of RTS’s solutions will enable Air India Cargo to adopt a data-driven, customer-centric model, enhancing intelligence, flexibility, and responsiveness in a fast-moving market.

Velocity, RTS’s next-generation cargo revenue management solution, uses advanced machine learning algorithms to improve demand forecasting, automate overbooking decisions, and maximize revenue across routes, products, and customer segments. Its modular design also supports comprehensive capacity management, inventory control, and origin-destination (O&D) optimization strategies.

AcceleRate, the dynamic pricing engine, leverages real-time market signals, predictive analytics, and customer behavior insights to recommend optimal rates and price corridors. This empowers sales and pricing teams to make faster, more informed decisions, ensuring consistent and profitable outcomes across the airline’s cargo operations.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer at Air India, said, “As we reshape Air India’s cargo business into a data-driven, customer-centric business, we are happy to partner with a provider that brings both cargo domain depth and technology excellence. RTS’s AI-powered solutions will give us the intelligence and flexibility we need to compete and win in today’s fast-moving cargo environment.”

RTS brings over 15 years of experience in revenue management, pricing, and planning solutions for travel and cargo industries worldwide. Mukundh Parthasarathy, Senior Vice President at RTS, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, saying it validates RTS’s leadership in cargo revenue optimization and underscores its mission to help carriers make smarter, faster, and more profitable decisions through intelligent automation.

The implementation of these solutions is expected to begin immediately, with a phased rollout ensuring seamless integration across Air India’s teams and systems. This move complements Air India’s broader five-year transformation program, Vihaan.AI, which includes fleet expansion, mergers with AirAsia India and Vistara, and the development of South Asia’s largest aviation training academy.

With this collaboration, Air India is positioning itself as a modern, technology-driven cargo carrier while staying true to its Indian heritage and global ambitions.
