December 24, 2019: Delta Air Lines inaugurated its services in India today with the only nonstop flight between Mumbai International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York.

The 16-hour flight also offers a range of onward connections to destinations in the United States.

The airline has scheduled a Boeing 777-200LR aircraft on the route providing import and export opportunities for freight forwarders. The airline is anticipating to carry key export products like pharmaceuticals, automobile parts, perishables, courier shipments and general cargo.

Delta first offered service between the U.S. and Mumbai beginning in 2006 but was forced to suspend the service in 2009 as subsidized carriers made the route untenable.
