Cochin Shipyard signs Rs3,000 crore contract with Indian Navy for INS Vikrant
November 3, 2019: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) on Thursday signed the Rs3,000 crore phase-III construction contract of India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant from Indian Navy.

November 3, 2019: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) on Thursday signed the Rs3,000 crore phase-III construction contract of India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant from Indian Navy. The contract covers the operational and harbour acceptance trials of various equipment's and systems installed onboard and also the sea trials of the carrier as well as the post-delivery activities of the vessel including support on weapon & aviation trials.
Cochin Shipyard started construction of INS Vikrant in 2009 and was launched in 2013. The carrier will start its sea trials in 2021 and by 2023 into the service of Indian Navy. The contract was signed at the Ministry of Defence between Nidhi Chhibber, Joint Secretary & Acquisition Manager (Maritime Systems), MoD and Suresh Babu N V, Director (Operations), CSL.
