The World Cargo Alliance Foundation is playing a vital role in mobilising immediate aid and support after Cyclone Ditwah in November 2025, in Sri Lanka, to affected communities across the island. In partnership with WCAworld member Freight Links International (FLI), Colombo, WCAworld Foundation is ensuring its commitment to provide humanitarian aid through its established network for similar situations.

The people in Sri Lanka faced landslides, displacement, and flooding, pushing them to a vulnerable position. The Foundation is working directly to provide relief by setting direct funds with the help of its maintained network. The fund was started as an initiative in partnership with WCAworld member FLI, Colombo.

The Foundation’s initiative to raise funds aligns with their core model of engaging with trusted members on the ground to verify that funds are deployed efficiently and in time. With no reliance on external agencies, 100% donation are utilised for the frontline support.

Alongside WCAworld Foundation, Freight Links International (FLI) has played an important role in the implementation of the project, considering its logistics infrastructure, local expertise, and well-built community relationships to manage procurement, transportation, and distribution of relief supplies. Their active presence on the ground assured the rapid mobilisation of the aid and ensured that it reached the most remote areas, despite damaged infrastructure and challenging conditions.

The relief operation focused on two of the hardest hit regions, which included immediate household recovery and longer-term community needs. Kegalle district witnessed the destruction of homes and fatalities, but was soon supported by the Foundation as the necessities, such as cooking equipment, food supplies, were delivered to restore basic living conditions and to help families to restart their everyday routine.

Another phase of operation was conducted in the Mannar district that primarily focused on supporting children who suffered from flooding and infrastructure damage. The school supplies included backpacks and footwear, and vouchers that were aimed at helping students return to education with stability and positivity post-disaster.

All distributions were carried out in sync with local community leaders, such as religious and educational representatives, making certain that assistance was delivered uninterrupted and to the people in need. The collective approach of Freight Links’ local links and operational oversight made an efficient response.

WCAworld Foundation’s global reach in gathering international support by involving local experts to deliver immediate and impactful results during times of crisis made the initiative successful. The ongoing efforts by WCAworld Foundation to respond to emergencies, in partnership with its close members across the world, ensure that communities receive assistance timely.
