BLR Airport posts steady 5% cargo growth in calendar year 2025

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru (BLR Airport) posted steady cargo growth in calendar year 2025, handling 520,985 metric tonnes, up 5% year on year. The airport also recorded its highest-ever single-day cargo throughput of 2,207 metric tonnes on 7 August 2025, underlining its role as a major logistics hub.

During the year, BLR Airport strengthened its cargo network and operations, supported by rising demand and continued infrastructure development. The airport is now connected to 37 cargo destinations through 15 domestic and international cargo airlines, enabling stronger trade links with major global markets.

Chicago, Singapore, London Heathrow, Frankfurt and Leipzig emerged as the leading export destinations, while Shenzhen, Shanghai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Singapore were the top import markets. Cargo growth was driven mainly by shipments of agri-perishables, pharmaceuticals, auto parts and spares, electric and electronic goods, and e-commerce consignments.

Cargo infrastructure expansion also supported growth during the year. The Domestic Cargo Terminal developed by Menzies Aviation Bengaluru Private Limited, inaugurated in December 2024, became operational in 2025 and is India’s largest greenfield domestic cargo terminal in terms of physical infrastructure and capacity. In April 2025, the AISATS BLR Logistics Park was launched, adding a Grade A warehouse spread across 8.2 acres with a built-up area of 370,000 square feet.

BLR Airport said it will continue to focus on strengthening cargo connectivity, expanding airline partnerships and scaling up cargo capacity to support long-term trade and logistics growth in the coming years.
