NSDT, Ganesh Benzoplast partner for liquid cargo terminal at JNPA

Located at the state-owned Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Nhava Sheva, NSDT is a multipurpose clean cargo terminal, capable of handling container, cement, general cargo, liquid vessels, break bulk, dry bulk etc.

Nhava Sheva Distribution Terminal (NSDT) and Ganesh Benzoplast have entered into an understanding to handle liquid commodities at the shallow water berth at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNP).

This understanding envisages the gradual build-up of liquid volumes of up to 2 million tonnes to be handled at the shallow water berth. JNP presently attracts 6.3 million ton of liquid cargo comprising of LPG, petroleum products, chemicals, edible oils, acids etc.

The shallow water berth is part of NSDT, the latest PPP venture of the J M Baxi group. Located at the state-owned Jawaharlal Nehru Port, Nhava Sheva, NSDT is a multipurpose clean cargo terminal, capable of handling container, cement, general cargo, liquid vessels, break bulk, dry bulk etc. The shallow water berth is already equipped with Ganesh Benzoplast’s pipelines.

Meanwhile, JNPA announced handing over a letter of permission for operations and facilities to NSDT for managing coastal berth and shallow water berth. 

Rishi Pilani, chairman and managing director, Ganesh Benzoplast , said, “This is a very critical agreement which will not only ensure better services for our customers by eliminating vessel wait times, but in the long term help increase volumes by providing berthing for bigger vessels and a variety of cargoes.”

Dhruv Kotak, managing director J M Baxi group, said, “We are excited about our partnership with Ganesh Benzoplast. This strategic alliance will offer a one-stop integrated solution for users sourcing their liquid cargo through JNP and the synchronized facility will act as a distribution hub for the industrial belts at Maharashtra and southern Gujarat.”

Ganesh Benzoplast is one of India’s largest liquid storage facilities provider with a total tankage capacity of 3.3 lakh KL across three port-based terminals at JNPA, Goa and Cochin. The company is the single largest logistics service provider in liquid commodities in the Mumbai region.
