Titagarh Rail Systems has received approval from the Ministry of Railways, for registration as a wagon leasing company (WLC) under the wagon leasing scheme (WLS) of Indian Railways.

The company is now a registered WLC, an approval marking its entry into the wagon leasing segment. This development aligns with the objective of Indian Railways' wagon leasing scheme to encourage private sector participation in rolling stock ownership, ultimately improving wagon availability and enhancing efficiency and capacity in freight transportation.

This registration strengthens the company's integrated presence across wagon manufacturing, asset ownership, and freight mobility solutions. The approval is expected to enhance long-term business visibility and drive value creation within the rail logistics ecosystem.

Established in 2008, the government's railway wagon scheme encourages private investment to supplement public funding for infrastructure development, particularly for the Railway freight business. This policy also permits companies to import wagons and lease them to private container operators and the railways.

Titagarh Rail Systems is a key player in the Indian rail engineering and logistics sector, specialising in the manufacture of freight wagons and integrated rail mobility solutions. Operating within the rolling stock and rail logistics space, the company serves both the Indian Railways network and the wider freight ecosystem with products and services encompassing wagon production and associated transport infrastructure.

The company holds a position in India, being the only private company capable of manufacturing both stainless steel and aluminium-bodied coaches simultaneously. Within its freight rail systems division, the company maintains its status as India's largest wagon manufacturer, boasting an annual capacity of approximately 12,000 wagons across a diverse range, including hopper, tank, flat, and specialised defence wagons.

The company is committed to complying with all applicable operational, safety, maintenance, and regulatory requirements stipulated by Indian Railways and other competent authorities. Furthermore, the company remains focused on pursuing opportunities that support its long-term growth strategy, focusing on sustainable growth, operational synergies, and value creation for its stakeholders.
