Delhivery, Bajaj Auto to Deploy 1,500 EVs for Last-Mile Deliveries
The rollout begins with 200 eCarts and will expand to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, supporting fleet electrification, rider safety and lower emissions.
Delhivery and Bajaj Auto have partnered to deploy 200 Bajaj RIKI eCarts across Delhivery’s last-mile delivery network, extending fleet electrification to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. The deployment marks the first phase of the partnership, with a second phase planned for 2026-27 that will take the total deployment to around 1,500 Bajaj electric three-wheelers (L3 and L5). The official flag-off took place at Bajaj Auto’s facility in Akurdi, Pune.
The partnership combines Bajaj Auto’s expertise in electric mobility with Delhivery’s technology-driven logistics operations. Designed for last-mile delivery operations, the Bajaj RIKI eCart offers the reliability, durability and uptime required by fleet operators.
The Bajaj Riki C4005 eCart is equipped with an electric powertrain, a two-speed automatic transmission and low maintenance requirements. The vehicle is designed to reduce operating costs per kilometre while providing strong load-carrying capability. Combined with Delhivery’s automated route optimisation systems, the eCarts can help delivery partners complete more deliveries on each trip, supporting higher daily earnings.
Prashant Gazipur, Chief Operating Officer, In-City Operations at Delhivery, said the collaboration supports the economic well-being of delivery partners while advancing the environmental goals of both the company and its customers. He said the combination of intelligent routing systems and cargo EVs creates a more profitable model for riders and provides customers with a lower-carbon supply chain. He added that the deployment across metropolitan areas and emerging Tier-2 and smaller markets will make the last-mile network safer, more rewarding and aligned with shared ESG commitments.
Samardeep Subandh, President, Intra-City Business at Bajaj Auto, said the partnership has the potential to transform last-mile cargo transport by combining Delhivery’s scale and technology with Bajaj Auto’s expertise in electric three-wheelers. He said the Bajaj Riki C4005 offers a range of more than 100 kilometres on a single charge, along with reliability, durability, comfort and improved ergonomics for drivers. He added that the partnership could strengthen last-mile logistics across both metropolitan and Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
The companies said the shift to electric three-wheelers will also improve driver welfare and safety. The vehicles feature ergonomic seating that helps protect riders from extreme weather conditions and reduces physical fatigue during long hours in traffic. They also enable delivery partners to carry larger and heavier payloads safely and with less physical strain.
The deployment is also expected to support Delhivery’s fleet electrification efforts by replacing internal combustion engine vehicles with electric alternatives, helping reduce Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions. Equipped with advanced battery management systems for extended urban range, the vehicles are designed to support all-day delivery operations.
The initiative reflects the commitment of both Delhivery and Bajaj Auto to improving operational efficiency, driver welfare and environmental responsibility in logistics operations.
