Flipkart puts Rs 1,632 crore into logistics arm eKart

Jan 06, 2017: Logistics and supply chain arm of e-commerce company, Flipkart, Ekart incurred losses of Rs 810 crore. The losses were incurred on a revenue of Rs 303 crore in the nine months to March, its first year of operation, after the Indian e-commerce major spun it off as a separate unit. The losses were over and above Rs 2,850 crore losses its two entities — Flipkart India and Flipkart Internet — posted in FY 16.

Flipkart's in-house supply chain arm, Ekart has powered the growth of Flipkart with innovations such as cash on delivery, in-a-day guarantee (50 cities), same-day guarantee (13 cities). With a renewed mission of transforming core supply chain through technology, Ekart is now offering the same proposition to brands, sellers, platforms and consumers outside of the Flipkart Group.
