August 10, 2017: In a bid to create new opportunities in cross border e-commerce for India’s e-tailers, DHL eCommerce, a division of Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL Group), has opened a new distribution center in Delhi. This investment is part of the recent announcement that DPDHL Group will invest over €250 million in India by 2020.

“India is one of the top ten e-commerce markets and the fastest-growing globally with e-commerce expected to grow at a CAGR of 31 percent to reach €2 billion by 2020,” said Malcolm Monteiro, CEO, DHL eCommerce Asia Pacific. “India has been identified as a key market for DPDHL Group and we are leveraging our experience and successes globally and customising our services to meet the needs of India’s markets. We are confident that our new cross-border solutions will provide an added boost to the growing e-commerce industry in India.”

The Delhi Distribution Center forms a vital component to enable end-to-end logistics for e-commerce, allowing e-tailers to reach out to customers globally and enable quick fulfillment of orders at all times to popular destinations such as the US and Europe. This will further enhance DHL’s existing logistics infrastructure in India, helping boost the Indian e-commerce industry.

“India’s booming e-commerce market, coupled with the government’s implementation of GST and greater ease of claiming benefits like MEIS for cross-border shipments, has made e-commerce exports more attractive and business-friendly than ever before. We are positive of the growth and are hugely committed to enable Indian e-tailers to fully capitalise this exciting e-commerce market,” said Suraj Bangera, Country Director, DHL eCommerce India.
