BLR Airport handles 532,000 tonnes cargo in FY26, up 6%

Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru recorded steady growth in its cargo business in FY 2025–26, handling 532,000 metric tonnes, a 6% increase year-on-year, supported by strong demand and expanding global connectivity.

The airport’s cargo operations were supported by a network of 15 cargo airlines operating across 38 destinations, linking Bengaluru with key global hubs including Chicago, Singapore, London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Demand was driven by a mix of agri-perishables, pharma, auto parts, spare parts, electronics and e-commerce shipments.

Perishables continued to play a key role in overall volumes, with the airport retaining its position as India’s leading gateway for perishable exports for the fifth consecutive year. During the year, the airport handled around 60 million rose stems, with volumes increasing 38% and tonnage rising 64%. Mango exports grew 12% to a five-year high, while coriander volumes rose 13% year-on-year.

The commissioning of the AISATS BLR Logistics Park further strengthened cargo capacity and processing capabilities at the airport, supporting the continued growth of cargo operations.

The airport said sustained growth in cargo volumes and network expansion continue to strengthen its position as a key cargo hub, with a focus on expanding capacity and enhancing global linkages.
