Sept 12, 2016: Indian low-cost carrier, SpiceJet has inked the interline agreement with Germany’s Hahn Air, which will enable the airline to now sell its flight tickets on Hahn Air’s booking system.

The partnership will enable SpiceJet to gain better access to the global markets besides elevating customer convenience and improving service procedures and interline payment. The airline has outlined Europe amongst its foremost target markets in its global outreach program post the tie-up.

Shilpa Bhatia, senior vice president Commercial, SpiceJet, said, “We have charted out a systematic growth path for SpiceJet and the time is ripe for us to reach out to a wider audience while enabling our customers to avail an extensive network with elevated convenience. The association will help us to penetrate the untapped markets which will in due course reflect in our business growth proposition.”

Alexander Proschka, head of Hahn Air Systems, said, “We are proud to welcome SpiceJet as the latest airline to join the H1-Air network. This is especially momentous as they are Hahn Air System's 50th partner and we are happy to share the occasion with them. Going forward, we will redouble our efforts to grow our portfolio of H1-Air partners and to globally connect more airlines, in turn offering our travel agent partners greater possibilities.”

Hahn Air is Dusseldorf-based global leader in providing distribution services for air, rail and shuttle partners and the ticketing expert for travel agents.

Apart from giving access to retail customers worldwide, the global platform offers a tremendous network to non-GDS airlines enabling them to be booked through over 95,000 travel agencies in 190 markets.

SpiceJet can thus benefit from Hahn Air’s economies of scale and have the potential to increase its revenue streams by being able to penetrate newer geographies, and reach out a wider target audience.

With the interline agreement in place, SpiceJet’s domestic and international services will now be available on all GDSs and will be issuable on the Hahn Air HR-169 document.
