August 23, 2018: Emirates SkyCargo will carry flood relief cargo of over 175 tonnes to Kerala, joining the UAE community in their support of the people of Kerala.

The air cargo operator will fly over a dozen flights to transport the relief goods, which have been donated by various UAE-based businesses and organisations to Thiruvananthapuram. It is the nearest online Emirates station to the areas, most affected by the flood.

The goods, including lifesaving boats, blankets and dry food items, will be handed over to the local flood relief and aid organisations for distribution.

Meanwhile, Jet Airways has also been working closely with the state administration and several NGOs to support relief and rehabilitation efforts in the province that was ravaged by a devastating flood causing an estimated loss of Rs 20,000 crore, as per a preliminary estimate.

The airline has also been operating additional flights on both domestic as well as international sectors for the added convenience of its guests.

It has airlifted and rushed over 3 tonnes of medicines and other relief material and is facilitating transfer of additional supplies to the state in conjunction with several NGOs. On humanitarian grounds, the airline has also waived off air freight charges on all domestic cargo shipments of relief material to Kerala.
