CWC launches heavy-duty EV fleet for green logistics push
CWC flags off heavy-duty EV fleet from Chennai to boost clean, sustainable freight logistics.
Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC), a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, has launched a fleet of heavy-duty electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its efforts to promote sustainable freight transportation and green logistics.
The fleet was flagged off from CWC's DPE Thiruvottiyur facility in Chennai by U. Subba Rao, General Manager, Integral Coach Factory (ICF). The event was attended by senior officials from the Integral Coach Factory, Southern Railway and CWC, while CWC Managing Director Santosh Sinha and Director (HR) Sangeeta Ramrakhyani joined virtually along with regional managers from across the country.
The induction of heavy-duty electric vehicles marks a significant milestone in CWC's strategy to modernise freight transportation through clean mobility solutions. The initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and support environmentally responsible logistics in line with the Government of India's Viksit Bharat vision and national sustainability objectives.
As one of India's leading warehousing and integrated logistics providers, CWC said it will continue adopting innovative technologies that improve operational efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
The corporation added that integrating electric vehicles into its logistics network reinforces its commitment to building a cleaner, smarter and more sustainable logistics ecosystem while contributing to India's transition towards a low-carbon economy.
