July 21, 2020: SpiceJet today announced that it has acqui-hired the team and technology of the Bengaluru-based airline technology company Travenues.
Launched in 2019 as the wholly-owned subsidiary of the travel app ixigo, Travenues offers several airline e-commerce solutions. The platform also helps customers with automatically identifying their preferences including favourite time in the day for flying, seat and food while also applying privileges according to the loyalty status.
The 15- member technology team, which specialises in developing customer-engagement platforms, including apps and those used for payments of Travenues, has now joined SpiceJet, which will inherit the airline technology and commerce platform.
Ashish Vikram, chief technology and innovation officer, SpiceJet, said, "This acqui-hire will help SpiceJet strengthen its e-commerce platforms as we continue to innovate across multiple technology areas and achieve our vision of being the worldwide leader in aviation technology.”
In 2019, SpiceJet had signed a technology partnership with Travenues for improving its consumer-facing experiences.
