Dec 28, 2016: Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), India largest container port, in association with Jawaharlal Nehru Customs is organising a three-day intensive drive ‘Registration Mela’ from December 28-30, 2016 to extend Direct Port Delivery (DPD) facilities to all importers who have been granted ACP (Accredited Client Program) status. The spot registration is held at the ground floor conference hall of JNPT Sheva. Through this initiative, JN Port has welcomed all importers to come and register for availing quick benefits without paying any cost over it.

“With this Registration Mela initiative, more number of importers, who were hesitant earlier, would come and get the benefits out of it. The spot registration facilitates to get registration from all the four terminals in one go,” said Anil Diggikar, Chairman, JNPT.

DPD is one of the key initiatives for the benefit of EXIM trade, whereby importers can get direct delivery of their consignments at their destination to save on time and cost to large extent. Under the ‘Ease of Doing Business’, DPD has been encouraged and promoted by the Government of India to motivate as many importers for availing the facility. JN Port and Jawahar Customs have eased up the procedure for EXIM trade, covered under ACP to clear more containers under DPD.

JN Port is showing a growth of 15 per cent over same period last year in DPD clearances.
