Nov 6, 2018: Lauding the government’s initiatives for a series of reforms which has resulted in a marked improvement in India’s ranking in the Ease of Doing Business Report 2019, Ganesh Kumar Gupta, President, FIEO said that various initiatives taken by the present government across sectors are converging to provide an enabling and supportive eco-system for entrepreneurs and exporters.

India’s rank in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business 2019 survey climbed 23 places to 77 among 190 countries surveyed, making it the only country to rank among the top 10 improvers for the second consecutive year.

The improvement in trading shows how trade facilitation has helped in cutting down time and cost. Gupta complimented all the stakeholders particularly the ministry of finance for taking various measures such as Single Window Interface (SWIFT), pragmatic Risk Management System (RMS), Electronic Sealing Facility (ESF), revamped Authorised Economic Operators (AEO) Scheme, facility of Advance Filing of Bill of Entry, Direct Port Delivery (DPD) and Direct Port Entry (DPE).

The study undertaken by FIEO for the major ports which were continuously monitored by Ministry of Shipping and NITI Aayog has also helped 24 x 7 monitoring of imports and exports clearances, identifying the bottlenecks and quickly addressing them, said FIEO chief.

Gupta went on to say that the government should continue with the reform process with further zeal and push India to the top 25 countries in the next three years.
