Ethiopian Airlines to commence freighter operations from Ahmedabad next month

Feb 08, 2017: Reinforcing its presence in the Indian market, Ethiopian Airlines to start freighter operation to Ahmedabad in March 2017. In addition, the airline also aims to start service to a south Indian destination this year. Celebrating 45 years of uninterrupted service to Mumbai, India, Ethiopian Airlines has since increased its airlift to 28 scheduled weekly flights to Mumbai, the business capital of India and New Delhi, the capital city of India.
Group CEO, Tewolde GebreMariam, said, "We are very happy to celebrate this milestone of 45 years uninterrupted service to Mumbai, which was one of our earliest destinations and is one of our strongest markets in Asia today. We have contributed our part in forging closer investment, trade and people-to- people ties between Africa and India. Today, we have come closer to the needs of our Indian customers, serving a variety of culinary experiences: Indian, Halal, Vegetarian meals, prepared at a dedicated Kitchen in our modern Inflight catering facility, the largest in the continent of Africa.”
Regional Director of the Indian Subcontinent, Tadesse Tilaun, said, “India is a growing and very strategic market for Ethiopian. We have plans to expand our operations in India, both in passenger and cargo. We have finalised our preparation to launch freighter operation to Ahmedabad in the month of March 2017, and passenger service to one South Indian point any time this year.”
