CMA CGM starts weekly block train from Port Pipavav to Garhi Harsaru

June 24, 2019: Container carrier CMA CGM has started a weekly dedicated scheduled import train from Port Pipavav to Garhi Harsaru (NCR region), which it received on June 12.

June 24, 2019: Container carrier CMA CGM has started a weekly dedicated scheduled import train from Port Pipavav to Garhi Harsaru (NCR region), which it received on June 12.

Operated by Gateway Rail Freight Ltd. (GRFL) for CMA CGM, the train connects Pipavav to Garhi, Ludhiana and Piyala, and has a capacity of 180TEUs in a single run. The train was received by Ugo Vincent, managing director CMA CGM India, and senior management from CMA CGM, Gateway Rail Freight Ltd. (GRFL) and APM Terminals Pipavav at Garhi Harsaru.

The scheduled train service will provide reliable, safe and quick transport of commodities to the NCR region. The seamless transport and scheduled deliveries will help the trade to optimise their supply chain.

Earlier this month, CMA CGM, alongwith CEVA Logistics launched a new cross-border service for ocean freight containers used by customers across Thailand and Laos. The service will help the companies' import and export customers and help them reduce their carbon footprint as empty containers no longer have to be returned to their origin.

In May 2019, CMA CGM launched the Mov'India 2019 initiative with an aim to bring together the key stakeholders and influencers of the shipping and logistics industry for discussions into the future of the industry.
