Centre approves second airport in Mumbai

Nov 30, 2016: The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has given 'in principle' approval to Government of Maharashtra for construction of a new airport at Navi Mumbai which is intended to serve as the second airport for passengers of Mumbai.

Besides, MoCA has also granted 'in principle' approval to develop a second airport at Mopa village in Goa and 'site clearance' for setting up of greenfield airport at Bhiwadi (Rajasthan) in NCR, which can act as second airport to Delhi.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha yesterday.
