APM Terminals Pipavav, Pipavav Rail offers double stack service to Jodhpur

December 17, 2021: APM Terminals Pipavav, in association with Pipavav Rail Corporation Ltd (PRCL), will offer double stack rail service - the first service by PRCL - to Jodhpur via Sanand on a hub & spoke model.

"Since it will be on hub & spoke model, the service will provide access to other Inland Container Depots (ICDs) in India," according to an official statement from APM Terminals.

The hub & spoke arrangement via Sanand will ensure timely evacuation from the port in reduced dwell time.

PRCL is a joint venture between Gujarat Pipavav Port and Indian Railways. PRCL became an active rail operator by starting the first train from Port Pipavav to Jodhpur on an electrified route.

“The rail connection to Jodhpur via Sanand on hub and spoke model will give an edge to our customers in connecting to their markets/ICDs quickly," said Jakob Friis Sorenson, MD, APM Terminals Pipavav. "We extend all our support to the PRCL to make this connection a big success.”
