to go big on EVs
Fleet deployed in
Chennai for first mile
and last mile deliveries
within DB Schenker’s
growing LTL network.
B Schenker India has
started the deployment
of its EV fleet in India,
Dstarting from Chennai.
The company has already taken a
significant step by deploying its fleet
of newly launched electric trucks,
which are 20’ and 24’ heavy-duty
payload vehicles with a planned
capacity of seven tonnes, designed
for seamless operations in first
mile and last mile deliveries within
DB Schenker’s growing less-than-
truckload (LTL) network, showcasing
its commitment to sustainability
in urban logistics. The initial
deployment includes electric vehicles
designed to cater to the growing
demand for eco-friendly, cost-
effective transportation options.
“We will continue to invest in the
space to scale our array of emission-
reduced transport solutions,” says
Abhishek Vashisht, Land Transport
Director, DB Schenker India. “We
aim to build more than a robust and
scalable fleet of electric vehicles,
but also to explore and implement a
variety of innovative technologies that
can help reduce emissions across the
entire logistics sector. This includes
looking into advancements like
hydrogen fuel cells and alternative
fuels, which play a key role in
achieving a carbon-neutral future.
