64 Indian exporters participate at Gulfood 2017 in Dubai

Feb 27, 2017: India is one of the largest producer of food in the world. The export of agro products for the year 2015-16 was to the tune of US$ 16,195.61 million. APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), an apex organisation under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry is mandated with the responsibility for promotion and development of the export of various agro products. The export of APEDA scheduled products to UAE market for the year 2015-16 was US$ 1,371 million.

At the ongoing 22nd edition of world’s largest annual food and beverage exhibition Gulfood (February 26 – March 2, 2017) being held at Dubai World Trade Centre, 64 exporters dealing into range of agriculture and processed food products have participated under the banner of APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority). APEDA pavilion was inaugurated by Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia. Gulfood is a business to business trade exhibition that is professionally managed and hosted by the Dubai World Trade Centre.

APEDA’s export basket includes fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, pickles, chutneys, guar gum, poultry, meat and dairy products, confectionery, cut flowers, food grains, aromatic plants, basmati rice and Indian long grain rice and other Indian delicacies. India exports agricultural products to more than 80 countries world over.

UAE market is a potential market for Indian food products i.e. basmati rice, fresh fruits and vegetables, non-basmati rice, buffalo meat, alcoholic beverages, sheep and goat meat, processed fruits and juices, cereal preparation, dairy products, milled products, wheat, cocoa products, pulses, other cereals, groundnut, processed vegetables, floriculture, guar gum, etc.
