coverstory3 Following the launch of its custom bonded trucking service at Kolkata Airport in September 2013, Shreeji Transport is all set to add two more new branches to its pan-India network in the current year. “In the current year, we will raise the number of our branches to 12,” said Rupesh Shah, Director, Shreeji Transport Services. Regarding customer response at Kolkata, Rupesh Shah said, “Our bonded service has already gained momentum at Air Cargo Complex, Kolkata. We are receiving overwhelming response from airlines and air cargo agents. We are happy that Shreeji bonded trucking service is highly recognised by customers.” Shreeji currently has a strong fleet of 220 modern trucks. “Depending on the customer demand, we will increase our investment to add more trucks,” said Shah. Speaking to INDIAN TRANSPORT & LOGISTICS NEWS, Dileepa BM, CEO, Shreeji Bonded Trucking, said his company’s bonded trucking services are now fully recognised by almost all international airlines operating in India. “Our branches across India totalling ten now are servicing the airlines and agents to their full satisfaction. For Kolkata air cargo industry, bonded trucking is a new concept. Clients have already started supporting us strongly.” Speaking about the company, Dileepa said that after being established in 1982 with registered office in Bangalore and head office in Mumbai, Shreeji today is one of the largest road transporters in India. Through its matchless customer service, over the past 32 years, Shreeji has gained a strong foothold in trucking and now is the undisputed leader in custom bonded trucking. Shreeji Transport Services is an IBA (Indian Banks Association) approved transporter. “In 2002, we started custom bonded trucking service from Bangalore for the first time, and expanded our BT network to Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Coimbatore, Cochin, Calicut and Trivandrum. The 11 years in bonded trucking trade has given us a wonderful experience partnering with airlines and agents.” Bonded trucking is still a new concept in India. “In the west like the US and Europe, I find that majority of the airlines themselves are operating bonded trucking. As it is a new concept in India, most of the airlines are not yet aware of this facility. We are trying to create and develop an awareness of bonded trucking facilities available in India also.” Comparing it other road transport services, Dileepa said that in BT the trucker has to provide a time-bound service in bonded trucking operations. “Any compromise in time will result in missing the flight, and our service will prove to be a waste. At Shreeji, we maintain a high level of standard in time-definite delivery, thanks to our disciplined, dedicated staff and executives. Our service level has taken the tonnage to new high.” Bonded trucking service is the only mode to see freight cost reduced, Dileepa said. “We offer offline service. In terms of cost, bonded trucking service comfortably compares with domestics air service. In future, India will develop to a level where it can compete with US and Europe in bonded trucking,” he added.
