May 29, 2017: The Indian Institute of Freight Forwarders (IIFF), the training wing of Federation of Freight Forwarders' Associations in India (FFFAI), is starting their second batch of distance learning course and tenth batch of class room diploma course on logistics, shipping & freight forwarding from June and August 2017 respectively. The courses are crucial in view of the fact that the industry is suffering from huge shortage of skilled manpower.

“There is tremendous skill gap prevailing in the logistics arena. The root cause of skill gap in this sector is due to lack of awareness amongst the institutions and also the lack of practical content. In India we find a lot of institutes offering short programmes under the export import process. Often these institutes do cover only the essence of the import and export regulations, however they do not go into the finer points such as freight forwarding, consolidation etc,” pointed out Tej Mayur Contractor, President, IIFF.

The institute will offer a programme which covers 16 modules in respect to International Logistics. FFFAI initiated the training establishment (IIFF) for Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders & Logistics companies in 2004.

The prime objective of FFFAI’s training initiative is to upgrade skill within the industry as well as to provide a platform to new participants from outside of the industry. The training activities include 1) workshops, diploma course in logistics, shipping and freight forwarding (distance learning) and diploma course in logistics, shipping and freight forwarding (classroom).
