Cyber security is priority for Indian Railways: Suresh Prabhu

July 22, 2017: Ensuring cyber security is one of the top priorities for Indian Railways, which is currently seeing a lot of upgradation, modernisation and maintenance, said Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu at a round table conference on “Ensuring Cyber Security on Indian Railways” recently.

Prabhu further said that the ministry has lauched several initiatives over the past three years like RailCloud Server and Rail Saarthi App and is working on an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. However, with the exhaustive use of technologies, there are high chances of vulnerability. Indian Railways keeps conducting audits to ensure safety checks.

He said that the idea of the conference is to bring all stakeholders on one platform to ensure that these discussions become effective results for cyber security.

The meet which saw the presence of Railway Board chairman A K Mittal, other railway board members and senior officials, saw discussions on cyber threats, security incidents and advanced solutions. According to an official release, the discussions helped in understanding the issues involved and create better awareness among all stakeholders. It also helped to provide effective solutions to deal with the Cyber Security threats to IT Systems on Indian Railways.
