NSDC, Bird Academy collaborates to train 35,000 candidates

Jun 02, 2017: In an effort to bridge the skill gap and create a market ready workforce in the aviation and aerospace sector, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bird Academy to impart training to 35,000 candidates and set up model centers across several locations across India.

The agreement was exchanged by Jayant Krishna, chief operating officer, NSDC and Radha Bhatia, secretary Bird Academy and chairperson Bird Group in the presence of the Rajiv Nayan Choubey, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation. Under the MoU, NSDC and Bird Academy will support capacity building across states in aviation, with a special focus on training 5,000 women and youth from the underprivileged section of the society.

India is expected to become the third largest aviation market by 2020. The country is among the top five fastest-growing aviation markets globally.

To meet this high growth of passenger traffic in the aviation sector, a highly skilled manpower will be required.

Krishna said that the MoU between NSDC and Bird Academy will assist the Skill India mission and go a long way in ensuring supply of a pool of talent in the sector.
