AAI to lead operations, development and maintenance of Diu Airport

Mar 23, 2017: Airports Authority of India (AAI) has undertaken the operation, development and maintenance of Diu Airport from Diu Administration. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) demonstrating the responsibilities has been executed recently between UT Administration of Daman and Diu and Airports Authority of India. The Operations, Development and Maintenance of Diu Airport will now be led by AAI.

The airport operations were handed over to AAI on March 10, 2017. With this transition, AAI will provide required facilities, infrastructure and management at Diu Airport. Further, with the objective of upgrading the infrastructure and services at Diu Airport, Planning Department of Airports Authority will shortly develop the new design for the airport. At present Air India operates scheduled movements four times in a week on Mumbai-Diu-Mumbai sector on Viability Gap Funding provided by Diu Administration.
